Dig into the fascinating history of Christianity in ancient Rome with this private 7-hour guided tour of the Eternal City. Visit the places where everything started. PICK UP TIME Suggested 8:30 am to avoid big crowds at least in the first part of the morning (it is flexible and you can decide when).

AVENTINE HILL scout the place where the early Christians used to live in the city of Rome. See the evolution of their gathering sites. Visit the most important Paleo-Christian Church on the Aventine.

MAMERTINE PRISON just an amazing site. The first prison in Rome: you will be able to enter the Prison where Peter and Paul were sent down.

THE CATACOMBS The real burial place for the Christians in Rome

CHURCH OF QUO VADIS a unique church built on the Appian Way, very much linked to the time in Rome spent by Saint Peter

PANTHEON Explore the most amazing building in Rome, still intact and filled with history.

TIME FOR A BREAK You’ll decide what to eat and which kind of lunch to go for. We will give you several options (something quick to go, something intermediate like a pizza or a salad, or something more authentic off-the-beaten-path where only locals eat).

CANCELLATION POLICY
RomePrivateExcursions offers a very flexible cancellation policy, in case of arrival problems due to COVID, we are willing to offer a 100% refund (Colosseum and Vatican tickets are on the other hand never refundable).

Your English Speaking driver would pick you up at your accommodation in Rome, at the airport or train station on arrival, or where you prefer within the city of Rome.

No deposit required!

We accept payments in Traveler Cheques in Euro or USD. If you want to pay in USD we will calculate the accurate total, by using the stock exchange conversion rate Euro/USD of the day before the tour/transfer increased by 7 cents. We also accept credit card payments (Visa and MasterCard – No American Express) at the time of the booking, or at the end of each tour/transfer. Please note that if payments are operated with credit cards the total cost of the tour will be increased by 10 %.

We do not accept payments via credit card for amounts below 350 euros. If the payment is made with a credit card at the end of the tour/transfer you will be required to sign an one time payment authorization form, provided by us. If payment is made with a wire transfer the total cost will be increased by 10 %. If you decide to pay in cash you will be asked to pay your driver at the beginning or at the end of the tour/transfer. The Total will be indicated in your final contract.

Tickets to the Vatican and the Colosseum can be pre-purchased through us and the day of the tour your driver will hand them to you for a better and more efficient service.

This is a private tour, so you will not be sharing it with anybody else!
You’ll be escorted by your English speaking driver who will explain all different points of interest. But please note that they are not guides. They cannot enter the sites with you by law.

Note:

• If you want a private guide we can provide you with one for the duration of the tour, but pls note that the drivers that conduct this tour are incredibly into it. So the need of a guide is secondary

• You will be entering religious places so knees and shoulders must be covered

• Walking: moderate a part from the Catacombs and Mamertine Prison
